Cleaning your aluminium front doors is one of the most important steps to extend their long service life and maintain its functionality. Even though aluminium doesn’t really need much maintenance, you cannot just leave it as it is.
It is very easy and simple to maintain an aluminium front door and this is mainly because of the high quality materials used. The process of cleaning is also quick and easy although the important parts like locks and hinges should never be taken for granted.
Below are tips on how to clean the integral parts of your aluminium front door.

How to Clean Powder-Coated Aluminium Surfaces
The leaf and frame of your front door should be cleaned once a year at the least. However, if there are heavy loads coming from the environment, you will need to repeat the cleaning several times annually.
Use cold water with mild dish detergent or soap. You can use a sponge or soft cloth for cleaning. It is not recommended to clean under the direct sunlight or when the surface temperature is higher than 25 degrees Celsius.
Avoid using wire sponges or acidic, alkaline, abrasive, or harsh cleaners that may end up damaging the surface. Never use detergents with unknown composition. Don’t polish surfaces with structural and matte paints.
How to Look After Glass Surfaces on Aluminium Front Doors
Use a soft cloth and regular glass cleaners when cleaning the glass that won’t cause damages or scratches on the glass. You need to remove first the persistent impurities using suitable solvents then wash them off with water.
If you will clean with solvents, you should be careful to ensure that you don’t end up damaging the edge sealing of seal gaskets, insulating glass, and the rest of the organic parts or silicone joints. You should never use strong alkaline acids or washes, specifically hydrofluoric-based cleaning agents and hydrofluoric acid.
It is recommended to use circular motion from inside out and from top to bottom when cleaning. This technique ensures that the cleaning agent will foam and clean the glass surface properly.
How to Maintain Stainless Steel Surfaces
The stainless steel products used on aluminium front doors only need regular cleaning with no special care required. A damp soft cloth then followed by a dry wipe can be used to remove fingerprints, dust, and soot. As for stubborn dirt such as plaster and concrete stains, you can use those cleaning agents with polishing additives.
For those remnants of surface rust due to the air’s fine metal dust, a nylon clot can be used with the addition of mineral or organic diluents that contain water. To remove dust during its initial surface phase, you can use a cloth for rubbing the surface in the grinding’s direction while you apply enough pressure. You always need to clean in the same direction to the product’s machining or direction of the grinding.
Caring for Seals and Fittings
Use non-acidic oil or grease to lubricate your aluminium front doors’ moving parts at least two times a year. This will help increase the lifespan of the fittings and make it easier to operate the cylinder and hook insert. Ordinary mild detergents can be used for cleaning the seals at least once a year to preserve functionality.
